As an art therapist with a background in education, I recently took part in the Painting: Oil, Acrylic, Water 1 course for ten weeks at the University of Nottingham.The course blended theory and hands-on practice, introducing artists like Peter Doig and Basquiat while encouraging personal exploration. A highlight was experimenting with still life painting, inspired by Cézanne and Picasso, which pushed me to refine my techniques in composition and perspective. The collaborative atmosphere, the enthusiasm of the teacher and the use of visual/verbal notebooks helped in reflecting on my artistic skills. This course was a real pleasure to attend and provided fresh inspiration for my work as an art therapist too!
