Quoi de neuf?
In November, I invited Ellinismos Greek Dance Nottingham to perform at Aspley Wood School, where I was working as a teacher. It was a special moment, sharing a piece of my culture with my students.
The performance was a great success! The energy, the music, the vibrant steps—everyone was captivated. But the funniest part? Many of my students didn’t recognize me at all! Dressed in a traditional Greek costume, I had completely transformed 🙃
I truly believe in the power of the arts, all kinds of arts. But painting and dancing? They are in my heart!

My first experience felt like a deep journey into relaxation and self-discovery. It all started at the Medical School, QMC in Nottingham, where I was introduced to Hatha Yoga in the Sivananda tradition by my first yoga teacher, Mayte Gómez. Mayte guided us through this journey helping me understand that yoga is not just about physical flexibility but about harmonizing the body and mind. From the very first moments of relaxation, I felt a sense of calm going over me, as if my stress and tension were slowly melting away. The postures (asanas) helped me reconnect with my body, while the breathing exercises (pranayama) taught me how to breathe more consciously and fully. The almost hypnotic effect of the practice, closing my eyes, focusing on my breath, and letting go of distractions created a deep state of peace I had never experienced before! 🪷

As Britain becomes more and more like the US, and stress, bullying at work and family problems mount, the East Midlands is seeing the growth of a new phenomenon, e-therapy. Guest writer Vicky Tsiaousi, recently arrived in Nottingham from the University of Edinburgh, reports.

Attending the Creative Drawing course at the University of Nottingham was an inspiring experience, enriched by classmates from all over the world who brought fresh perspectives and an open, unbiased way of thinking. The course encouraged us to explore drawing in unconventional ways, playing with silhouettes, sounds, and even movement, leading to deep personal expression.
One classmate in particular captivated me with his effortless ability to translate emotions into abstract, fluid forms. While the rest of us struggled with the theme of fear, he dived into it without hesitation, moving his brushes as if navigating his own inner landscapes with complete ease. I often found myself so mesmerized by his process that I forgot to focus on my own work! This course was not just about developing technique but about expressing emotion and breaking creative boundaries, making it a truly unforgettable experience!
